What do y'all think would constitute a Real Life Potion? Personally anything with a Taste counts as a potion (like room temperature gatorade, anijsmelk (Anise milk), fruit soda with hot sauce, energy drinks) and so does anything that has lots of Ingredients (starbucks). I am very interested to hear your takes and discover new potions

yes, hello, i love this question. the definition of a Potion to me would be a liquid ingest-able that has some sort of effect on the user. this effect could be good or bad - sometimes a Potion is just a Potion of Feel Like Shit.
I'd say the more ingredients something has the more likely it is to be a Potion. I'd consider energy drinks, cough syrup and pepto bismol to be some of your run of the mill Real Life Potions. they are liquids that you ingest and they have a specific effect on you. I'd also strongly consider everything with caffeine in it to be a potion, so I do consider a lot of sodas to be potions.
This brings us to Mountain Dew. Prior to 2020 the popular soft drink Mountain Dew was made with brominated vegetable oil which is a patented flame retardant. therefore, pre-2020 mountain dew was a Potion Of Flame Resistance. it just so happens that there was side effects to drinking flame retardants, so they took it out. fortunately for me, i've drank enough brominated mountain dew in my life time (it's my favorite soda and has been since childhood) that I'm more flame resistant than the average person, which is a huge boon because fire is one of the most common elemental damage types.

i also agree that a potion must have a status effect of some kind. for example coffee is a potion of instant heart attack, battery acid is a potion of die and that weird oat milk horchata cocktail they do at las iguanas is a potion of almost hurl your guts up on the pavement outside las iguanas. i think potions do not have to be ingested though. such as the covid vaccine, a potion of get less covid. and hormones, potions of gender. the human body naturally produces many potions.
non-potion liquids can also become potions given time, for example water which you leave out for a couple of days becomes a potion of feel icky. pond water is an example of a natural potion of feel icky. the ocean is a potion because it rhymes. hope this helps

I think kombucha especially is very Potion since it's a fermented beverage boosted by a specialized bacterial culture that resembles some kind of weird fungus (look up a SCOBY/kombucha mother to see what the beast looks like) and has a lot of probiotic benefits + can also be a Potion Of Fart Your Ass Out

i agree with potion of ocean but i do not agree that water left out becomes potion of feel icky. i think that's only true for water left outside, or, if you will, Feral Water. your domesticated water on your bedside table will probably be fine. this is what i believe because i have never gotten sick from it. it just gets a little dusty yknow. ill die on this hill <3
also can you take me to las iguanas one day? :pleading emoji:

I didn't know that they call it the Kombucha Mother though thats so ominious i love it. i adore that we have beasts to make our weird little drinks for us

LITERALLY!!!!! There should be a codex of modern alchemical processes I think. And it's called the Kombucha Mother because sometimes the scoby forms layers of smaller scobys (scobies? scobii??) underneath it which can then be used to jump-start new kombucha cultures!!
